Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount University men's lacrosse team closed out the regular season on Thursday afternoon with a 26-5 win over Wesley College at Long Bridge Park in Atlantic East Conference action.
The Saints had little trouble gaining control in the game, opening on an 11-0 run that lasted into the second quarter. Senior Clark Akers tallied four scores in the run, on the way to tying for the team lead with seven in the game, matching a career-high. Adding four assists, he set a career-high 11 points, which also set a new program record for a single-game scoring total.
Sophomore Sebastian Radovic and freshman Jack Williams, each, tallied a pair of goals in the opening run, as well.
After Wesley put away its first goal with 7:09 left to play in the second quarter, goals from freshman Joseph Sciortino and senior Jonah Mackiewicz gave the Saints a 13-1 lead at halftime.
Marymount tacked on four goals in the third quarter, led by two from Williams. He continued his impressive freshman campaign, totaling seven goals and 10 points to set new career-highs in the game and tie for second in program history for a single-game point total.
Akers and junior Hunter Ralston found the back of the cage in the third, as well.
The Saints kept the offense rolling in the fourth, outscoring the Wolverines 9-2. Junior Troy Tangolics and Williams, each, notched a hat trick in the quarter, alone, to lead the outburst, while Akers put away his final two markers.
Junior Brandon Hall earned the win in goal, making 11 saves and playing all 60 minutes.
With the win, the Saints earned the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Atlantic East Conference tournament and will host sixth-seeded Immaculata University in a first-round game on Saturday, May 1.
