
The Marymount University Athletics Hall of Fame was founded in 2006 to recognize exceptional student-athletes, coaches, and other individuals who have made a profound impact on the University, the community, or the nation in the field of athletics.
The Hall of Fame recognizes Marymount's athletic programs and the quality of people associated with them, as well as the role of the University in helping to make the accomplishments of the individual honorees possible.
Certain criteria must be met for a person to be nominated for inclusion in the Marymount University Athletic Hall of Fame. Nominations are reviewed annually, with new members inducted at a ceremony that will take place each year.
Public Nomination Form
Criteria for Student-Athletes
- The nominee must have competed in a Marymount University varsity sport.
- The nominee must have attained the status of All-Conference, All-Region, or All-American; or be a Marymount record-holder (at the time of graduation); or have achieved national recognition in a sport (during or after the individual's attendance at Marymount).
- The nominee must be an alumnus of Marymount University a minimum of 10 years prior to induction (unless death or other extenuating circumstances occurred prior to the nominee attaining a degree). The nominee must have also completed their undergraduate athletic career at Marymount.
- The nominee must be a positive role model and show leadership qualities.
- The nominee must demonstrate the highest level of sportsmanship.
- The nominee must demonstrate conduct consistent with the ideals of Marymount.
Criteria for Coaches and Others
- Nominated coaches must no longer be employed by Marymount University.
- If the nominee left to coach at another institution or take another job elsewhere, there must be a 10-year wait before consideration. If nominee retired from Marymount, there is no established waiting period for eligibility.Â
- Nominated coaches must have attained the status of Coach of the Year on the conference, regional, or national level; must have won a conference championship; or must have made a significant contribution to his or her sport at Marymount.
- The nominee must have had a tenure of at least 10 years at Marymount (includes time as student-athlete or as an assistant coach).
- The nominee must be a positive role model and show leadership qualities.
- The nominee must demonstrate the highest level of sportsmanship.
- The nominee must demonstrate conduct consistent with the ideals of Marymount.
Nomination Procedures
- The Hall of Fame Executive Committee will accept nominations from any individual.
- Nominators should supply as much biographical information as possible.
- Once an individual is nominated, he or she remains on the nomination list. The Hall of Fame Executive Committee has authority to remove someone from nomination list if candidate doesn't satisfactorily meet eligibility criteria.Â
- Individuals who have been selected for inclusion in the Hall of Fame will be notified and asked to accept the honor.
Hall of Friends
- Marymount's Hall of Friends honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the Athletics department, through philanthropic support, time commitment, or other positive lasting impact on the Saints community.
- Hall of Friends honorees will be selected by a separate subcommittee, to include the Director of Athletics, Associate AD for Development, and other members selected by the University Development staff.
- It is not mandatory that one Hall of Fame honoree every year come from the Hall of Friends nomination list.
- The Hall of Fame Executive Committee will also accept public nominations for the Hall of Friends. Once an individual is nominated, he or she remains on the nomination list.
The 2024Â Hall of Fame ceremony will be held on Friday, Jan. 31 at the Washington Golf & country Club. The program will run from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Register for the event here.
