MLAX: Marymount Falls in Overtime Battle with Westminster

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount University men's lacrosse team dropped an intense battle Saturday afternoon at Long Bridge Park, falling to Westminster (Pa.) 12-11 in overtime. The Saints battled back from an early deficit and carried momentum late into the contest, but the Titans found the game-winner in the extra period to seal the non-conference decision.

NOTABLE

  • Santino Rossitto and James Elko paced the Saints' attack with three goals apiece, with Elko adding three assists for a game-high six points.
  • Ian Fructuoso recorded two goals and two assists.
  • James Doss, William Cate, and Wyatt Labonte each added a goal for Marymount.
  • Winston Horshaw II was dominant at the faceoff X, going 17-for-22 while collecting six ground balls to give Marymount key possessions throughout the game.
  • Defensively, Kanye Otto, Spencer Carfang, and Matthew Mulkins led the Saints, with Otto scooping up six ground balls and Carfang and Mulkins picking up four. Each caused 3 turnovers apiece.
  • Marymount controlled much of the possession game, finishing with 42 shots and 33 ground balls in the contest.

UP NEXT
The Saints return to Long Bridge Park on Saturday, March 21, where they will host Mary Washington at 1:00 PM. The match up will serve as Marymount's final non-conference contest before Atlantic East Conference play begins.
