WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Marymount University baseball team used two three-run innings on Wednesday afternoon to get back into the win column, topping Utica College, 7-4, in Florida. 

The impressive offensive performance of senior Austin Sizemore got the scoring started for the Saints, who built up a 3-0 lead in the second inning. Sizemore used his first at-bat to drive in senior Michael Wade on a RBI single. He was followed in the next at-bat by sophomore James DiGiulian, who also had a RBI single through the left side to bring home sophomore Casey Baker. The final run of the inning came off a double play, as Sizemore sprinted from third during the play to get home. 

The third inning had the Pioneers score their first run, but Wade pushed the advantage back to three in the bottom half of the frame with a sacrifice fly to left field to score senior Conner Hall. 

In the top of the fifth, Utica put two across to get within one, 4-3, off a RBI single and then another run advancing home on a fielding error. However, again, the Saints answered in the bottom of the fifth when junior Will DiGiulian scored on a fielding error by the Pioneer shortstop on senior Luke Tyree's at-bat, and Sizemore followed up with a 2-RBI single to right field to score Wade and Tyree.

The rest of the way, the Saints' pitching only allowed two baserunners for Utica, giving up just one more run on a steal home, as Marymount sealed up the 7-4 victory. The pitching staff had five on the mound through the nine innings, totaling 14 strikeouts. Junior starter Justin DiDonato and freshman Kenny Frank each had four strikeouts, while senior Ryan Scheufele who came in for the fourth and fifth inning had three strikeouts and earned the win. Hall came in for the close in the ninth, striking out two in a three-up, three-down frame to take his second save of the season. 

The Saints round out their Spring Break trip tomorrow at 9:30 a.m., playing Mount St. Joseph at Lake Myrtle Sports Park.
