TYSONS, Va. -- Behind a complete game performance on the mound from right-hander
Ben Smallwood, Marymount baseball opened their three-game set with a win over Marywood Friday evening.
The win improves the Saints' record to 12-6 overall, 3-1 in Atlantic East play.

The Saints took control of the game, finishing with a decisive 5–1 victory over Marywood. After falling behind early, they steadily built their lead.
In the third inning, Via doubled to right center and swiped third. A groundout by
Tyler Woodring brought him home, leveling the score at 1–1.
The Saints jumped ahead in the fifth. Via got on base due to a fielding error and stole second.
Seth Sadler drew a bases-loaded walk, allowing Via to score an unearned run, putting Marymount up 2–1.
The sixth inning saw the Saints widen their lead. Ellenburg singled and moved to second on a sac bunt. Via's double to left center brought Ellenburg home. Woodring's single advanced Via to third, and he later stole second. Schick followed up with a two-run single to right center, bringing Via and Woodring across the plate, cementing the score at 5–1.
Smallwood was stellar, navigating nine innings with just one earned run on four hits, while striking out three. The Saints wrapped up the game with a commanding 5–1 finish.
