BASE: Saints Split Series-Opening Double Header Against Neumann

TYSONS, Va. -- Marymount baseball opened up their three-game series against AEC opponent Neumann, splitting the double header at home at Capital One Park.

After the day, the Saints sit at 14-9 overall, 5-3 in the AEC.

The Saints started strong, putting up two runs in the first inning. Tyler Woodring singled to left, swiped second, and dashed home on a wild pitch. Anthony Farmakides also crossed the plate after a walk, advancing through steals and a wild pitch. Marymount ended the inning ahead 2-0.

In the second inning, Gray Ellenburg scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Cuadros, having reached on an error and advanced on a balk, boosting the lead to 3-0.

The fourth inning was a breakout, with the Saints piling on seven runs. Joshmar Carbonell walked, moved up on a wild pitch, and scored on Tyler Woodring's RBI single. Quincy Via and Woodring scored on Ryan Cuadros' single. Anthony Farmakides and Evan Schick added to the tally on Francis Swekosky's two-RBI single. Evan Schick scored again, courtesy of Joshmar Carbonell's groundout. Francis Swekosky capped the inning by scoring on Via's single, making it 10-0.

The Saints tacked on another in the fifth as Cole Shabosky, pinch running, scored on Seth Sadler's sacrifice fly, extending the lead to 11-0.

In the seventh, Neumann scratched across three runs. Jackson Armiger scored on Brody Foltz's sacrifice fly. Yoan Feliz and Donovan Brooks added runs, with Brooks scoring unearned on an error. However, the Saints' lead held firm.

Marymount wrapped up the game with an 11-3 victory over Neumann.

In a closely contested game, Neumann took an early lead in the second inning with three runs. Andrew Brown walked and advanced on JerVal Shuler's single. Tyler Kilmer was hit by a pitch, loading the bases. Jackson Armiger walked to bring in Brown, Yoan Feliz's groundout scored Shuler, and Donovan Brooks' single added the third run, putting Neumann ahead 3–0 by the end of the second.

The Saints made their move in the sixth. Swekosky doubled, and with Seth Sadler's walk and Gray Ellenburg getting hit by a pitch, the bases were loaded. Carbonell walked, allowing Swekosky to score, narrowing Neumann's lead to 3–1 after six innings.

Despite a ninth-inning single by Schick, Marymount couldn't close the gap. Neumann held their ground, securing the 3–1 win. Final score: Neumann 3, Saints 1.
