Box Score SALISBURY, Md. – The Marymount women's lacrosse team clashed with undefeated No. 1 Salisbury University on Wednesday evening on the Eastern Shore, dropping a 21-3 final in CAC competition.
A scoreless game held for seven minutes until the Saints (9-6, 3-3 CAC) put away the first goal of the game when junior Bridgette Stacom found classmate Jessica Crew for the 1-0 lead.
However, the Sea Gulls (14-0, 6-0 CAC) came back with nine-straight goals to take a commanding lead. With 1:34 left in the half, Stacom went unassisted on her lone goal of the game to stop the score streak by SU, but it followed with two more before the break to take an 11-2 advantage into the half.
Salisbury continued its momentum with 10 more goals in the second half that was divided by Crew's second finish of the game with 8:04 remaining.
Junior Holly Reik tended for the Saints for 46:23 of the game, making 15 saves, while sophomore Meagan Gagnon worked the final 13:37 for two saves.
Although the Saints fell in their Wednesday matchup, so did Frostburg State University to nationally-ranked York College of Pennsylvania. With the Bobcat loss, the Saints sealed up a spot in the CAC Tournament for the 18th time in program history, second time under Head Coach Kate Athing's tutelage.
Marymount rounds out the regular season with two more CAC matchups. They travel to No. 9 Mary Washington on Saturday, April 21 for their next game with the start set for 1 p.m.
