WLAX: Hood Holds Off Saints

FREDERICK, Md. – The Marymount University women's lacrosse team battled back late but ultimately fell to Hood College, 15-11, on Saturday afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field. The Saints drop to 4-3 on the season following the non-conference match up. 

NOTABLE

  • Natalia Ortiz and Mackenzie Morrissette paced the Saints' attack with three goals apiece, leading Marymount's offensive effort. 
  • Carmella Garcia and Kaylee Heath each added two goals, while Tess Valentino chipped in one. 
  • Brooke Bretney recorded the Saints' lone assist of the contest. 
  • Marymount showed resilience in the final frame, scoring four goals in the fourth quarter to cut into the deficit. 
  • Ava Vautour anchored the Saints in goal, turning aside 10 saves across the full 60 minutes of action. 
  • Defensively, Anna Geiger led Marymount with three ground balls, while Carmella Garcia controlled four draws to help spark possessions. 

UP NEXT
Marymount returns home on Wednesday when the Saints host Meredith College. Opening draw is set for 4:00 PM.
