Arlington, Va. – Two identical halves saw the Marymount women's lacrosse team fall at Frostburg State on Saturday afternoon as the host outscored the Saints 12-6 in the CAC opener.  Marymount slides to 1-5 on the season and 0-1 in league play with the loss.

The Saints used their opening possession to swipe the brief 1-0 lead on a Steph Keane strike at the 28:30 mark.  Though Frostburg State notched the equalizer almost two minutes later, Marymount swiftly broke the deadlock as Abby Wescott fed Taylor Johnson for the 2-1 advantage with 26:38 on the clock.

Five unanswered goals from FSU proved quite the hindrance as the first half waned, leaving Marymount on the sour end of a 6-2 deficit with 5:44 left to play.  The Saints skirmished for and won the ensuing draw, eventually earning a free position shot.  Cat Powell hammered home the attempt and cut the margin to 6-3 heading into the break.

The second half saw the Bobcats open with back-to-back blasts – effectively upping the ante to 8-3.  Marymount responded following an FSU yellow card as Wescott punctured the short-staffed defense and brought the score to 8-4.

Frostburg State stole the next two strikes for a 10-4 margin.  Keane stepped up with her second goal of the day at the 12:22 mark to cut the gap to five and ignite a relentless repartee.

FSU extended its lead back to six, 11-5, at the 6:56 mark, but Wescott sought out Catina Boster less than 20 seconds later to nullify the Bobcats effort.  Unfortunately, the Saints would not find net again. 

The Bobcats notched their final strike with 2:14 remaining, sealing the deal at 12-6.

Marymount returns to action on Monday, March 23, when it hosts Virginia Wesleyan at 4 p.m.
