Saints Finish Off Series Sweep of Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - The Saints baseball team finished off a three-game sweep of Centenary (N.J.) on Saturday in doubleheader fashion.

Winning game one 7-2 and game two in offesnive fashion 17-2, Marymount are pushing their way back to the .500 mark in conference play, moving to 7-8 in the Atlantic East, while advancing to 25-12 overall in the 2022 season. 

Game One

Notables

  • Alex Lemery went 2-for-3 at the plate in game one, knocking in two RBI and scoring two runs. 
  • Jimmy Baker and Robby Cable each collected a pair of hits, each collecting an RBI in the contest. 
  • Ryan Lee went 3-for-4 out of the DH sptot in game one.
  • Kenny Sysyn pitched a complete game in the seven-inning affair, only allowing two earned runs while punching out four. 

How It Happened

  • Jordan Dickson scored Lee in the top of the second via a sacrifice fly to kick off the scoring in game on of the day.  
  • Still in the second inning, Robby Cable knocked an RBI double to right field, scoring Lemery with ease. 
  • In the top of the fifth, Baker hit an RBI single to left field, scoring Lee. 
  • Lemery knocked a solo homer to left in the top of the sixth to give the Saints insurance.

Game Two

Notables

  • Ryan Maylie pushed across three RBI in game two, knocking three total hits, with a home run, and three runs.
  • Baker was 3-for-6 with two RBI in game two. 
  • Dickson was 3-for-5 with an RBI. 
  • Bryce Smith was 2-for-4 with four runs and an RBI in game two. 
  • David Kuzrock was 2-for-5 with three RBI in the second game of the day. 
  • Coleman Grehawick pitched 2.0 strong innings out of the 'pen for the Saints, allowing just one hit and picking up three punchouts. 

How It Happened

  • Maylie knocked an RBI single in the top of the first to kick off the scoring for Marymount, scoring Lemery with ease. 
  • Maylie knocked a two-run homer in the top of the third to keep momentum on the Saints side. 
  • Kuzrock punched a two-RBI double to right-center in the top of the fifth to push the score to 10-0 in favor of Marymount. 
  • The Saints scored five in the top of the ninth to take away the sweep easily and give them strong momentum down the stretch of conference play. 

What's Next

  • The Saints will continue conference play with a three-game set next weekend, starting on Friday, May. 6 away at Neumann. Senior day will be held on Saturday, May. 7 at home with doubleheader action starting at 3:00 PM.
