INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Marymount baseball is heading back to the NCAA Tournament, starting their trek at DeSales University against #4 Salve Regina in the NCAA Regionals this Friday.
Marymount won the Atlantic East Conference Tournament for the second-straight year to earn the automatic qualifier hosted by the AEC.
SCOUTING THE REGION
- This is the second-straight season that Marymount heads to the NCAA Tournament, after playing last year at the University of Lynchburg.
- DeSales University is the hosting school of the regional, bringing in Marymount alongside #4 Salve Regina and Ramapo.
- DeSales won the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Championship to earn their bid.
- Salve Regina lost in the final of the NEWMAC, but earned their fourth NCAA at-large bid in the last five seasons.
- Ramapo College earned their third-straight NCAA Appearance in at-large fashion after going 29-12 overall on the season.
- MU will take on Salve Regina in the first game this Friday.
SCOUTING THE SAINTS
- The Saints won the Atlantic East Conference Tournament as the #2 seed, taking down #1 seeded Centenary University in the decisive game seven on Sunday,
- The Saints have three hitters with an OPS over 1.000: Frances Swekosky, Evan Schick, and Quincy Via.
- Swekosky leads the team with six home runs on the season, driving in a team-high 54 RBI.
- Via, getting on-base at a .493 clip, has 58 stolen bags on the season, which leads all of Division III.
- Schick knocked 14 doubles this season and drove in 28 RBI.
- Junior Ben Smallwood leads the Saints on the mound, pitching to a 1.74 ERA in 62.0 innings pitched. He sported a 7-1 overall record this season.
- Liam Progulske struck out 52 opposing hitters in 44.2 innings pitched.
- Anthony Farmakides, named the Atlantic East Tournament MVP, knocked five home runs this season with 10 doubles, driving in 41 RBI.
ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIP
- The NCAA Division III Baseball Committee has announced the 64 teams that will compete in the 2026 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.
- Of the 16 regional sites played Friday-Sunday, May 15-17, four teams will compete at sixteen regional sites. Regionals will use a double-elimination format.
- Forty-one conference champions qualified automatically.
- Winners of the sixteen regional tournaments will qualify for eight, best-of-three series at the super regionals, Friday-Saturday, May 22-23.
- The eight super regional winners will then qualify for the pool play double-elimination championship at Classic Auto Group Park in Eastlake, Ohio, Friday-Thursday, May 29-June 4, 2026.
