Saints Continue Undefeated Start to Season With 11-8 Win over Randolph-Macon

Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Marymount University baseball team pushed its undefeated start to the campaign to six consecutive wins on Wednesday afternoon in an 11-8 win over Randolph-Macon College.

The Saints kept the Yellow Jacket off of the scoreboard for the first two innings of the tilt and took an early 2-0 lead. Alex Lemery started the Saints off with a bang in the bottom of the first inning with a homer. Ryan Lee came around to score later in the inning after he worked a walk to get on base.

The Yellow Jackets responded in the third inning with a homerun of their own, but the Saints answered with another run in the bottom of the frame to maintain a 3-2 lead. Lemery was responsible once again, as the senior got on base with a single and moved to third with a stolen base. A miscue by Randolph-Macon's catcher allowed Lemery to cross home plate.

The Blue and White tacked on another three runs in the fourth inning with a bases-loaded rally before taking a 10-3 lead with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Randolph-Macon attempted a comeback with a four-run eighth inning, the Saints added another run in the bottom of the frame via an RBI single from Jordan Dickson to maintain their lead.

Drew Mead got the win on the mound for the Saints after tossing seven innings with seven strikeouts. Coleman Grehawick stepped in and registered a pair of strikeouts, while Clint Wheeler closed out the game with two strikeouts in the ninth inning. .

Lemery led the Saints offense a 3-for-4 day at the plate. He finished with two RBI, three runs, and one walk. Ryo Fabre went 2-for-5 with two RBI, while Dickson finished 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and one run. Jimmy Baker saw plenty of time on base as well with three walks and two runs scored.

The Saints return to the field on Sunday, March 6th, when they travel to Florida to play Ohio Northern University. The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
