FORT PIERCE, Fla. - The Marymount University baseball team continued its Spring Break trip in Florida on Wednesday afternoon with a 12-3 thrashing of Penn State University-Behrend. 

A scoreless first inning was followed with a six-run second frame that put the Saints out ahead for good early. Senior Will DiGiulian started the scoring off for MU, shooting a single to right field to bring around junior Bill Wojcik and sophomore Bryce Smith for the quick 2-0 advantage. He was followed with a 2-RBI double by freshman Bobby Leitzel and back-to-back RBI singles by senior Mike Ferrara and sophomore Ryan Maylie. 

In the bottom of the frame, sophomore Kenny Frank, who earned the start on the mound, sit down the first two batters. Before the inning was over, the Lions would score one run on a RBI double. Frank continued his outing through the fourth inning, not allowing another run before being relieved in the fifth by junior James DiGiulian.

DiGiulian's relief lasted three innings, just allowing two runs, one of which was earned. During his time on the hill, the Saint offense added two more runs to the scoreboard in the top of the seventh off a RBI double by Smith and a RBI single to centerfield by junior Casey Baker. 

The eighth and ninth inning were split by senior pitchers Kenny Sysyn and Matt Schneider, striking out a combined four and not allowing a run. 

The final push for the Saints was in the top of the ninth, sending four more across to bring their total to 12 for the afternoon. Sophomore Alex Lemery opened the frame with a 2-RBI double and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Will DiGiulian was the final run of the game, sprinting home on a passed ball by the Lions.

Marymount finished with 18 hits for the day with 10 RBI and four walks. 

The Saints round out their trip on Thursday, March 12 with a single nine-inning game against Gettysburg College. Start time is set for 10 a.m.
