BASE: Saints Upset #14 CNU in Non-Conference Action

TYSONS, Va. -- Marymount baseball (19-14, 9-6) secured a decisive 12–6 victory over #14 Christopher Newport (23-10) at Capital One Park on Monday.

The Saints tallied 16 hits, including a home run, in the non-conference matchup as they near the end of the regular season.

The Saints secured a decisive victory over Christopher Newport with a final score of 12–6. In the bottom of the first inning, Francis Swekosky hit a two-run home run, bringing Tyler Woodring home. Evan Schick later scored on a single by Gray Ellenburg, giving the Saints a 3–1 lead after one inning.

In the second inning, Swekosky singled to right field, driving in Quincy Via, which extended the lead to 4–2. The third inning saw Seth Sadler scoring on a single by Joshmar Carbonell, furthering the Saints' lead to 5–2 by the end of the inning.

Christopher Newport tied the game in the fourth inning. However, the Saints reclaimed the lead in the fifth when Via scored on a groundout by Woodring, and Swekosky scored on a walk with the bases loaded, pushing the score to 7–6.

The Saints widened their lead in the sixth inning. An RBI walk by Evan Schick allowed Gray Ellenburg to score, followed by a two-RBI single by Ryan Cuadros, bringing the score to 10–6.

In the seventh inning, Via tripled, scoring Seth Sadler, and then scored on a single by Woodring. This completed the Saints' scoring at 12–6, which remained unchanged through the ninth inning.

The final score was Marymount (Va.) 12, Christopher Newport 6.
