Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The Marymount baseball team slipped on the road against Penn State Harrisburg in a Capital Athletic Conference nine-inning game, 13-6, on Friday afternoon.
A pair of errors by the Saints in the first two innings along with nine runs put Marymount behind, 9-0. In the fourth, they started to chip away at the deficit, scoring two runs. The first run came off a wild pitch that scored freshman Casey Baker, and the other came on a groundout to the Lion shortstop by junior Nick Smutko to score freshman Jake Mellor.
In the fifth, two more runs came across home plate for the Saints when Baker dropped in a 2-RBI single to cut the deficit to five, 9-4.
Two innings later, a RBI double by junior Conner Hall and a RBI double by Baker put two more runs on the board for MU to get within three, but the Lions followed in the final two innings with four more runs to seal up the victory.
Baker led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 for three RBI and a run, while being walked once. He also stole two bases, along with Hall.
The Saints will continue CAC play on Saturday, March 31, hosting St. Mary's College of Maryland at Bishop O'Connell High School for a twin bill. Game one starts at 12 p.m.
