Box Score Washington, D.C. – The visiting No. 3 Sea Gulls used three big innings to down the Marymount baseball squad, 13-3, on Wednesday afternoon at the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy. The Saints fall to 11-13 on the season and 7-9 in league play with the loss.
The Sea Gulls (21-0, 16-0 CAC) plated five runs in the second to jump out to the 5-0 advantage. The Saints penned their own lone tally in the third to cut the deficit to 5-1, but Salisbury remained undaunted.
The visitors notched another five-run frame in the fourth, extending the margin to nine, 10-1. Before Marymount could respond, the Sea Gulls pushed across another three runs in the sixth to cap their offensive effort and secure a 13-1 lead.
A Ben Berczek homerun in the sixth cut the deficit to 13-2, while a Marymount groundout in the eighth saw the Saints whittle the margin down to ten, 13-3.
Neither team could muster any further offense over the few remaining frames.
Kaden Darrow led the Marymount offense with a 2-for-4 performance, while three other Saints each recorded hits in the effort.
Marymount returns to action on Saturday when it travels to St. Mary's (Md.) for a CAC twinbill. First pitch is slated for 12:00 p.m. in St. Mary's City, Md.
