The squads traded runs in the second to post a 1-1 knot on the board, but neither team could break the deadlock over the next couple frames.
Marymount plated three runs on four hits in the fifth to open the floodgates. Kaden Darrow earned a free pass to lead off the inning, eventually coming around to score on a triple to left center from Jack Breheny. Lorenzo Calderon smacked a double to the same spot to plate Breheny moments later.
Ben Berczek punched a two-out single through the left side to keep the Saints bats alive. A single up the middle from Ryan Blake saw Berczek cross the dish for the 4-1 Marymount advantage.
The Saints added two more in the seventh – thanks in part to another no-out free pass. Calderon drew the walk to set the table, using a single from Stephen Berczek to score. The Seahawks defense fell into disarray on the ensuing ball from Ben Berczek, allowing Stephen Berczek to score all the way from second base for the 6-1 lead.
St. Mary's made its grand reply in their half of the seventh – plating three runs on four hits to cut the Marymount edge to 6-4. The Saints used another three-run outpouring in the ninth to nullify the Seahawks effort and seal the deal at 9-4.
Collin Bazemore scattered six hits and fanned six Seahawks through his six innings of work – good for his first career win.
