Box Score Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's baseball team overpowered visiting Penn State Harrisburg on Friday afternoon, using four long balls and nine doubles to silence the Lions 24-0. The Saints pick up their first CAC victory with the impressive offensive display, improving to 1-13 in conference play and 7-23 overall.
Numerous Saints recorded multi-hit performances, including Jack Breheny and Brandon Savage with two doubles apiece. Ben Berczek, Brandon Orbe, Macon Heikes and Ryan Adamus each cleared the left field wall for round-trippers in the victory. Berczek and Adamus collected four RBIs apiece in the contest.
After a scoreless first inning, the Saints went on to post at least two runs in each remaining frame. Berczek broke the ice with a grand slam in the second and the Blue and White never once looked back.
Marymount recorded a season-high 26 hits in the win – half of which went for extra bases. The 24 runs are also the most the Saints have posted in their inaugural season.
Heikes extends his hit streak to 13 games with his 2-for-4 day at the dish.
Saints starter John LaMotta earned the win after scattering only two hits through five innings. He improves to 1-2 on the season.
Marymount returns to action on Saturday as it travels to Mary Washington for a CAC doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 12 p.m.
