Men’s Lacrosse Places Six on All-Conference Team

5/9/2023 12:29:00 PM

LANCASTER, Pa. – After making its second straight run to the Atlantic East championship, Marymount men's lacrosse placed six student-athletes on the All-Conference teams announced on Tuesday by the conference office.

Evan Motta collected First Team laurels for the second season in a row after leading the conference with 38 caused turnovers. The senior also scooped up 43 ground balls and scored four points (1G, 3A). Motta becomes the seventh Saint in program history to earn First Team All-Conference recognition twice and first since Lee Kuhlberg in 1999-00.

Jack Williams joined Motta on First Team after a record-breaking junior campaign. Williams currently leads the conference in assists (56) and ranks second in points (89). With the season complete, Williams officially broke five Marymount records this spring: single-season points (89), single-season assists (56), career assists (88), single-game assists (12), and single-game points (13). He currently sits in a tie for fifth place in career points (153) with a strong chance to break Clark Akers' record of 220 set last spring.

Gavin Taylorson, Chris Bochilo, and Jack Mattimore were named Second Team All-Conference, earning recognition for the first time in their careers. Collin DeBruyn received Second Team honors after being named First Team last spring.

Through 11 games this spring, Taylorson had ripped off 34 goals and 10 assists before suffering an injury and missing the final eight games of the year. He also grabbed 20 ground balls and caused six turnovers.

Bochilo stepped up with a breakout season in his junior campaign, scoring 26 goals and adding 10 assists for a career-high 36 points. He also scooped up 22 ground balls and caused six turnovers.

Mattimore started a career-high 18 games this season and scooped up 35 ground balls while causing 24 turnovers on the defensive end. He ranked third in the conference in CTOs.

At short stick midfield, DeBruyn scooped up 25 ground balls and caused 11 turnovers.
