Men's Finishes Season in AEC Championship

IMMACULATA, Pa. -- Marymount men's lacrosse battled hard in the Atlantic East Conference Championship on Saturday at Immaculata, falling by a final score of 15-12.

Consistently on the tail of the hosting Mighty Macs, the Saints finish their season with an 11-6 overall record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Immaculata put themselves in the driver's seat early, scoring six unanswered goals through the first 10 minutes of play to take the early advantage.
  • Robert Kirkland IV got Marymount on the board, scoring the first Saint goal of the day.
  • At the end of the first quarter, MU were looking at a 8-1 disadvantage on the scoreboard.
  • The Saints outscored Immaculata 5-1 in the second quarter to etch into the deficit, highlighted by a pair of unassisted goals out of the stick of Ian Fructuoso. 
  • Creek Gausmann found Drew Bedard with the open look to open up the second half of play, putting the score 9-7 in favor of the Mighty Macs.
  • At the end of the third quarter, the Saints had put themselves within three goals.
  • Back-to-back goals from Fructuoso to open the fourth got the Saints within a lone goal.
  • Bedard sank another to keep it within one after answering another Immaculata goal, but two more from the Mighty Macs sealed the deal.
  • Fructuoso ended the day with five points on five goals, adding a ground ball.
  • Bedard notched four points on three goals and an assist.
  • Cameron Glass went 10-13 from the face off, picking up five ground balls.
  • Winston Horshaw II went 12-13 out of the face off with six ground balls.
  • Ryan Casagrande caused a turnover and picked up a pair of ground balls.
  • Spencer Carfang notched a caused turnover with a trio of ground balls.
  • Kirkland IV finished the day with two goals.
  • Bryan Maguire and Gavin Taylorson each netted a goal.
  • Mattew Davis swatted away 11 save in the match up.
