Men's Lacrosse Controls Neumann to Advance to Atlantic East Championship

ARLINGTON, Va. – Marymount men's lacrosse put together a workmanlike performance to top Neumann 19-11 in the Atlantic East semifinals on Wednesday night at Long Bridge Park. With the win, the Saints advanced to a conference title game for the first time in program history.

NOTABLE

  • Gavin Taylorson ripped off a career-high seven goals and 10 points thanks to three assists.
  • Dylan Staley picked up a game-high 16 groundballs and won 23 of 31 faceoffs.
  • Hunter Ralston had four goals and placed five shots on goal. 
  • Marymount held a 45-35 advantage in shots taken.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Neumann scored the game's first goal a minute into the game but Marymount responded with four straight goals to take an early lead.
  • After one quarter, the Saints led 4-3. MU extended that lead to 9-5 heading into halftime.
  • Marymount scored four straight goals to open the third quarter to take an impressive 13-5 lead with 7:57 left in the frame.
  • Neumann cut the deficit to five in the fourth quarter but the Saints finished strong to earn a 19-11 win.

UP NEXT

  • Marymount will travel to face No. 1 seed Cabrini on Saturday in the Atlantic East Championship.
  • The Cavaliers handled Gwynedd-Marcy 22-2 in the other AEC semifinal matchup.
  • Game time for the championship is to be determined.
