INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Marymount men's lacrosse is set for their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament after winning their first conference championship this past Saturday, marking history for the Saints.
The Saints (9-7) will travel to Roanoke College (13-5) to take on the Maroons in the First Round, looking to earn a trip to Salisbury in the Second Round this weekend.
Marymount earned the Atlantic East Conference's automatic bid after a historic 11-7 victory over Immaculata University in the AEC Championship at Long Bridge Park.
SCOUTING THE REGION
- Marymount enters the tournament on a six-game winning streak, capped off by back-to-back wins in the Atlantic East Semifinals and Championship.
- Roanoke earned an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament, marking their 29th appearance. They fell to the University of Lynchburg in the ODAC Semifinals. This is their first trip since 2024.
- The winner of the First Round match up will travel to Salisbury University to take on the hosting Seagulls. Elmhurst and RIT are the other two institutions at the site of competition.
SCOUTING THE SAINTS
- Marymount went 9-7 overall on the season, going a perfect 4-0 in the Atlantic East, dominating the conference.
- Winston Horshaw II earned Atlantic East Player of the Year, as well as First Team All-Conference Faceoff Specialist.
- Head coach Jon Reynolds and his staff earned Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
- James Elko, Santino Rossitto, Ian Fructuoso, and Spencer Carfang all earned First Team All-Conference, with Isaac Armlin, Matthew Mulkins, and Connor Howard garnering Second Team.
- Rossito led the Saints with 47 points through the season on 34 goals and 13 assists, with Elko adding 46 points and Fructuoso at 44.
- Horshaw II sported an impressive .750 face off percentage across the entirety of the season, picking up 141 ground balls.
ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIP
- The DIII men's lacrosse championship is a 40-team, single elimination tournament.
- Champions of 27 different qualifying conferences received automatic qualification for the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship
- At-large berths were reserved for all remaining institutions not receiving an AQ.
