ARLINGTON, Va. —The Saints defeated Immaculata, 11-7, to capture the first conference championship in program history at Long Bridge Park. In a game that had everything you'd expect from a championship matchup, Marymount stayed composed, executed when it mattered, and controlled the pace for the majority of the afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind early, the Saints responded quickly with three straight goals to take the lead midway through the first quarter. Immaculata battled back to tie things up, but Marymount used a strong second quarter to create separation.
The Saints put together a four-goal run in the second, capitalizing on extended possessions and efficient offensive looks to take control heading into halftime. From there, Marymount never really gave the momentum back.
The third quarter saw the Saints continue to build their lead, while the defense held firm against any Immaculata push. Even as the visitors found a few late goals in the fourth, Marymount answered when needed to keep the game out of reach and close out the championship win.
