Box Score ASTON, Pa. - The Marymount University men's lacrosse team went on a 7-1 third quarter run after briefly falling behind, in a 15-9 win at Neumann.
Clark Akers (3 goals, 2 assists) and Gavin Taylorson (2 goals, 3 assists) each had five point days for the Saints. Charlie Wittich and Hunter Ralston also recorded hat tricks.
Neumann goalie Jake Marchiafava made a good stop on the game's opening possession, but the rebound fell right to Taylorson to flip it in.
After another good save by Marchiafava up high on Ralston, MU goalie Brandon Hall answered at other end, reaching back to cover the ball up in front of the goalline.
Wittich bounced a shot in man up for a 2-0 lead, and Paul Vey snuck one off the post and in from a tight angle to make it 4-1 Marymount in the first quarter.
Some quick ball movement led to a Ralston goal and a 6-2 MU advantage with 13:01 left in the second quarter.
It would be the final Saints goal until 12:47 of the third however, as Neumann tied it up with four unanswered in the second period and held possession into halftime following a late flag. Rich Marshall scored man-up soon after the restart to give the Knights their first lead of the game.
After Ralston tied it at 7-7 for Marymount, Wittich beat Marchiafava from way outside to put the Saints back on top and Ralston soon ripped one off the crossbar and in.
Marymount wrapped up an emphatic third quarter response by beating the buzzer, as Sebastian Radovic fed Akers from the right sideline to score with 0.6 seconds remaining.
MU improves to 6-7, 2-1 Atlantic East and will travel to Centenary on Thursday.
