Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Marymount University men's lacrosse team opened Atlantic East Conference play on the right foot on Saturday afternoon in a 14-10 victory over Marywood University.
It was a fairly even contest throughout, but the Saints took the lead in the first quarter behind a four-goal run to start the game and never looked back. MU ended the tilt with the lead in shots, 46-44, and ground balls, 37-27.
The Saints' performance on faceoffs helped control the tempo of the tilt as well. MU went 17-for-25 on faceoffs. Dylan Staley led the charge with a 17-for-23 performance on the draw. The sophomore also finished with a team-high-tying six ground balls.
On offense, four Saints potted multiple goals, led by Troy Tangolics. The senior tallied three goals and one assist for a team-high four points. Chris Bochilo added three goals, while Gavin Taylorson and Clark Akers each finished with two goals and an assist. Charlie Wittich added a pair of goals to bring his season total to 20.
The Blue and White attack was rounded out by Paul Vey, Sebastian Radovic, and Hunter Ralston. Vey supplied three assists and Radovic turned into a two-point (1g-1a) performance. Ralston potted one goal to close out MU's point scorers.
On the defensive side of the ball, Evan Motta, Jack Mattimore, and Tangolics all finished with two caused turnovers. Mattimore added six ground balls to round out his stat line. In goal, Brandon Hall earned the win with 12 saves in 54:18 of action. Angel Santos played the final 5:42 in net.
The Saints remain at home for their next contest on Wednesday, April 6, when they host No. 12 Cabrini University at 7:00 p.m.
