Box Score WHITTIER, Ca. -- The Marymount University men's lacrosse team demonstrated a balanced offensive performance on Tuesday in a 19-6 win over Cornell College.
Chris Bochilo started the game off with a goal for the Saints with 13:52 on the clock after Dylan Staley won the opening face-off. MU racked up the goals in the opening frame, as Clark Akers, Bochilo, Gavin Taylorson and Troy Tangolics all found the back of the net.
With a five goal lead in hand, the Blue and White scored four goals in each of the final three periods to seal the victory. Creek Gausman, Hunter Ralston, and Noah Hill scored in the second quarter, while Charlie Whittich got in on the action in the third quarter. Will Strausbaugh rounded out the Saints' goal scorers with a marker in the fourth period.
MU dominated control of the ball throughout the tilt and ended the game with a 43-21 advantage in shots over the Rams. The Blue and White more than doubled the Rams in ground balls, 45-22. The Saints also won the turnover battle, as they forced Cornell into 14 miscues.
Akers and Bohilo led the Saints offense with five goals apiece, which was a career-best for Bochilo. Ralston supported the effort with three additional goals. Ralston finished with three goals and one assist, while Taylorson posted one goal and a pair of helpers.
Marymount was dominant at the faceoffs, once again, as Joseph Sciortino went 14-for-14 and Dylan Staley went 7-for-8. Sciortino ended the contest with a game-high 10 ground balls. In the net for the Saints, senior Brandon Hall made seven saves and ended with a .538 save percentage.
The Saints return to Long Bridge Park for their next contest on Saturday March 12, when they face off against Southwestern University (Tex.) at 11:00 am.
