Box Score FREDERICK, Md. -- The Marymount University men's lacrosse team earned its second win in as many games on Wednesday evening with an 18-11 triumph over Hood College.
Marymount was spurred on by a pair of stellar performances from Hunter Ralston and Paul Vey. Ralston registered a game-high 7 points on six goals and one assist. Vey supplied six points for the Saints' offense with one goal and a career-high five assists.
Outside of Ralston and Vey, Troy Tangolics, Clark Akers, Gavin Taylorson, and Charlie Wittich all provided multi-point outings to help the Saints down the Blazers. Taylorson struck for two goals and one assist, while Tangolics scored a pair of goals. Wittich chipped in four points on two goals and two assists.
Akers tagged the Blazers for a pair of goals and added one assist for his fifth consecutive multi-point outing. With his three points, the senior sits at 191 total points for his career. The Springfield, Virginia native needs just one point to tie the program record of 192, which is currently held by Paul Shiavone.
After a back and forth first half, the Saints' attack hit its stride over the final two quarters. MU outscored the Blazers 10-4 in the second half of play to roll to the victory. The Saints ended the game with a 55-36 edge in shots as they pummeled Hood's netminder for the full 60:00.
MU's midfield controlled the pace of play throughout the tilt with a 40-35 edge in ground balls and a 22-for-33 mark on faceoffs. Dylan Staley shined for the Blue and White in both categories with a game-best 15 ground balls and a 20-for-30 showing on faceoffs. In goal, Brandon Hall earned the win with nine saves.
Marymount returns home for its next contest on Saturday, March 26, when the University of Mary Washington visits Long Bridge Park for a 1:00 p.m. tilt.
