Box Score HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Marymount University men's lacrosse team kicked off the 2022 campaign with a resounding 19-3 win over Juniata College on Saturday afternoon.
The Saints scored at least four goals in each quarter in a consistent assault on the Eagles' goal. MU ended the game with a 43- 23 advantage in shots and a 40-24 edge in ground balls, as the Blue and White dominated possession of the ball. The Saints also won 21 out of 25 faceoffs, highlighted by a 19-for-22 effort at the X from Dylan Staley.
While Juniata kept it close during the first quarter, the Saints' offense came alive in the second and third periods. MU poured in 10 goals across both frames and held Juniata scoreless throughout both quarters. Senior Clark Akers and freshman Gavin Taylorson shouldered the brunt of the scoring effort with five goals apiece. The duo each finished with three assists as well as they each tallied eight points.
Sebastian Radovic added a pair of markers, while Luke Mazur, Hunter Ralston, and Chris Bochilo all found the back of the net once. Bochilo added three helpers to round out his performance. In the midfield, Staley gobbled up a game-high 10 ground balls.
In goal, Brandon Hall earned the victory with seven saves in 42:40 of work. Anthony Olivo played the final 17:20 of the tilt and registered two saves.
The Saints play host to Shenandoah University in their next contest on Saturday, February 26. The tilt is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
