Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount University men's lacrosse team took down Immaculata University in the first round of the Atlantic East Conference tournament, 19-6, on Saturday afternoon at Long Bridge Park.
Senior Clark Akers hit the 100-goal mark for his career in the game, becoming the seventh Saint in program history to score 100 goals or more. He notched a hat trick in the game and now sits seventh in the program record book for career goals.
The third-seeded Saints opened the game on a six-goal run to take control early. Junior Hunter Ralston got the team started with the game's first goal. He tallied two in the opening run, on the way to four goals in the game, which led the team.
Akers added two goals in the first quarter, and along with scores from freshman Jack Williams and junior Troy Tangolics, the Saints took a 6-1 lead into the second quarter.
Marymount added four goals in the second to take a 10-4 lead into halftime. Ralston tallied his third, to go with goals from sophomores Sebastian Radovic and Mark Bruce Jr., and freshman Noah Hill.
At halftime, the Saints were successful on all seven clearing attempts, while leading in shots, 29-22, and ground balls, 24-16.
Senior Jonah Mackiewicz opened the second half with two straight goals to keep the offense rolling. Ralston followed with the Saints' third to start the half. Williams assisted all three scores; he finished the game with five assists to lead the team. Along with two goals, Williams led the team with seven points.
Akers and junior Kyle Johnson tacked on goals, as the Saints closed the third with a 15-5 edge.
Williams added his final goal in the fourth. Freshman Joseph Sciortino and sophomores Luke Mazur and Tim Roessler tallied scores in the final frame, as well. It was the first goal of the year for Mazur and Roessler, closing out the win for the Saints.
Junior Brandon Hall earned the win in goal, making nine saves in over 47 minutes in the cage.
With the win, the Saints will travel to No. 2-seed Neumann University for an Atlantic East semifinal contest on Wednesday, May 5. The game time is to be determined. Log on to www.marymountsaints.com for more information, as it becomes available.
