Box Score MALVERN, Pa. -- The Marymount University men's lacrosse team hit the road and picked up an important Atlantic East Conference victory with an emphatic 16-6 victory over Immaculata University.
The Saints (3-3, 2-2 AEC) overcame an early deficit and used a seven-goal third quarter to fly past the Mighty Macs (3-5, 2-4 AEC). MU's barrage was led by senior Clark Akers, who registered a career-high seven goals and chipped in one assist. First-year talent Jack Williams continued his stellar freshman season with seven points after he tallied a season-best six assists and added one goal. Hunter Ralston and Jonah Mackiewicz each added two goals to round out MU's multi-goal scorers.
On the opposite end of the field, Marymount's defense locked down the Mighty Macs' offense. MU caused 12 turnovers and scooped up 32 ground balls. Mark Bruce Jr. was one of the Saints' main pests and finished the game with three caused turnovers. In goal, Brandon Hall got the starting nod and earned his third win of the year. The junior tallied a season-high 16 saves and played the full 60 minutes.
The Saints opened the scoring just 55 seconds into the contest as Akers netted his first of the contest. Immaculata answered back and took a 4-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw a lot of action in the midfield, but Ralston, Akers, and Williams all found the back of the net and sent MU into halftime with a slim 6-5 advantage.
After Immaculata managed to beat Hall with 13:55 in the clock in the third quarter, the Saints responded with six unanswered goals. Paul Vey started the barrage with an unassisted effort. Akers wrapped up the run with back-to-back markers as time wound down in the quarter. With a 13-6 lead in hand, MU tacked on three more goals in the final period, highlighted by the first career foal from Adrian Pardo.
The Saints return home on Thursday, April 29, to host Wesley College in their regular-season finale. The contest is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
