Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount University men's lacrosse team picked up its first Atlantic East Conference victory of the year on Saturday in a hard-fought contest against Neumann University, 13-11, at Long Bridge Park.
The defenses shined through the first quarter, as the teams combined for three goals in the period.
Neumann took the initial lead three minutes into the game, but junior goalkeeper Brandon Hall turned away five shots in the period to allow the Saints to come back to take the lead with two scores.
Freshman Jack Williams found senior Jonah Mackiewicz to tie the score before Williams found the back of the net for a 2-1 edge.
Williams scored his second-straight to open the second quarter and give the Saints their largest lead of the first half, 3-1.
The teams found their offensive footing in the quarter, each finding the back of the cage five times. Williams and senior Clark Akers, each, tallied two scores in the quarter, while freshman Paul Vey added another, as Marymount took a 7-6 lead into halftime.
Williams totaled six points in the half to lead the team on three goals and three assists. The Saints were successful on five-of-seven clears in the half, while winning 11-of-14 faceoffs.
Neumann scored the first two goals of the second half to take its first lead, but the Saints quickly came back with goals from Akers and sophomore Sebastian Radovic.
A late goal by the Knights tied the score going into the final frame, but the Saints quickly regained their lead. Following a win at the faceoff "X" to start the quarter, junior Troy Tangolics put away the team's 10th score just six seconds into the fourth.
Marymount outscored Neumann 4-2 in the quarter to put the game away. Tangolics added a second goal in the quarter, while Radovic added his second of the game, as well.
Junior Hunter Ralston capped the Saints scoring.
Williams finished the game with a career-high eight points, including a career-best five assists to lead the team.
Hall earned the win in goal, playing all 60 minutes and making 12 saves.
The Saints will be back home on Wednesday, April 14 to host Atlantic East-foe Wesley College; the game is set for 4 p.m.
