Box Score SCRANTON, Pa. – The Marymount University men's lacrosse team dropped its Atlantic East Conference-opener on Saturday at Marywood University, 19-13.
Freshman Jack Williams led the Saints with five points on four goals and an assist. He set the personal best in goals and tied the career-best in points of his young career.
Williams tallied his first two scores in the opening quarter, as the Saints trailed by one, 5-4, after a tight first-15 minutes. Sophomore Mark Bruce Jr. and freshman Paul Vey added goals, as well.
The Pacers began to pull away with five-straight goals to start the second quarter, but MU fought back with three goals before halftime.
Senior Jonah Mackiewicz took advantage of a man-up situation before Williams found junior Hunter Ralston to bring the score to 10-6. After a Pacers' goal, Mackiewicz assists sophomore Sebastian Radovic just before the break.
Marymount found its groove to start the second half, as junior Troy Tangolics scored his first just 57 seconds in. Williams and Radovic completed a 3-0 run to get back to within one, 11-10.
Radovic completed his hat trick before the end of the third, but three Marywood goals kept the Pacers ahead, 14-11, heading into the final frame.
Bruce and Williams each scored in the fourth, but Marywood put home five more goals to secure the win.
Juniors Anthony Olivo and Brandon Hall split time in the cage for the Saints. Olivo earned the start, making six saves, while Hall came in for over 40 minutes in goal with 10 saves.
Marymount will return home to Long Bridge Park on Wednesday, March 31 to host Gwynedd Mercy University in Atlantic East play. The opening faceoff is set for 4 p.m.
