Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. - The Marymount University men's lacrosse team fell on Wednesday night to Goucher College at Long Bridge Park, 15-7.
The Saints were the first to find the back of the net in the game, scoring two minutes off the start when junior Nicholas Kinstler dished off a pass to sophomore Hunter Ralston for the 1-0 lead.
However, the Gophers responded with three-straight goals to take an advantage that didn't sway back in favor of MU the rest of the way.
Junior Clark Akers cut the run with his first of two goals for the night, going unassisted with 5:02 remaining in the first quarter.
By the half, Goucher carried an 11-2 lead into the break.
The third quarter was controlled by the Saints, including a defense that held Goucher to just eight shots through the 15-minute period. Five of those shots were saved by junior Joshua Buxton and sophomore Anthony Olivo, two goalkeepers that split time in the third.
Only giving up one goal in the third, the Saints also answered with two. Akers scored his second of the night off a pass from junior Jonah Mackiewicz and sophomore Troy Tangolics chipped in his first of the game.
In the final quarter, each team traded three goals each, as Tangolics, Mackiewicz and Kinstler all scored for Marymount.
In the net, Buxton and Olivo combined for 16 saves. On the backline, junior Cole Kocovsky held strong with a team-high three caused turnovers and four ground balls.
The Saints hit the road on Saturday, March 7 for their next game, traveling to Lebanon Valley College. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
