Box Score

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount University women's lacrosse team improved to 4-0 on Monday afternoon, with a 15-13 victory over King's (Pa.) College at Long Bridge Park.

It only took 21 seconds for the Saints to find the back of the net, as junior Shea Smith took a pass from senior Madison Davis for the score and 1-0 lead.

Davis found freshman Kaleigh Dunham to double the lead less than two minutes later.

The Monarchs then reeled off five-straight goals, forcing the Saints to play catch up for most of the first half.

Goals from sophomore Emily Peters, Smith, and sophomore Sarah Agrillo kept the score close, as the Saints trailed by two, 7-5, with 6:18 to play in the first half.

At the 2:56 mark, freshman Riley Love scored her first to get the Saints going. Agrillo tallied her second, before Davis put away a pass from Love with three seconds left before halftime to give Marymount an 8-7 lead, at the break.

The Saints held a 19-14 advantage in shots and 12-8 lead in ground balls, at halftime, while converting on 11-of-11 clears.

King's opened the second half with two goals to regain the lead, but, this time, Marymount answered with five-straight scores to open up a lead.

Davis netted a man-up score to tie the game, before Smith put away her third to gain the lead for good for the Saints.

Davis, Love, and Dunham, each, scored a goal to close the run, putting the Saints ahead, 13-9.

After the Monarchs got back in the scoring column, Dunham and Smith built the Marymount lead to 15-10, with their final tallies of the day.

King's looked to make a comeback in the final 10 minutes, with three scores, to cut the Saints' lead down to two, 15-13, but Marymount held strong in the final minutes to secure the win.

Smith led the way with four goals, while Davis put away three goals and tallied three assists for a team-high six points. Dunham also notched a hat trick, in the game.

Freshman Sydney Clifford paced the defense with four caused turnovers, and senior Meagan Gagnon earned the win, making three saves.

The Saints will return to the field on Wednesday, March 4 against Alvernia University; the opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
