WLAX: Saints Fire on All Cylinders Against The Cyclones

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — Marymount delivered a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon, overwhelming Centenary (N.J.) in a 22-2 victory behind a relentless offensive surge and suffocating defense.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Marymount wasted no time asserting control, erupting for 13 goals in the opening quarter and never looking back. The Saints capitalized early and often, forcing turnovers and converting in transition to build a double-digit lead before the first break. The offensive clinic continued in the second quarter with seven more goals, as Marymount entered halftime with a commanding 20-0 advantage. The Saints showcased efficiency and unselfish play, consistently finding open looks and finishing chances. Centenary managed to get on the board in the second half, but Marymount maintained control throughout, adding two more goals while limiting the Cyclones to just five total shots on the day.

NOTABLE

  • Mackenzie Morrissette orchestrated the offense with a game-high 8 assists to go along with 2 goals for a 10-point day.
  • Tess Valentino had 6 goals and 1 assist, pacing a high-powered Saints offense.
  • Kaylee Heath added 5 goals and 1 assist, while also contributing 3 ground balls and 3 caused turnovers.
  • Brooke Bretney finished with 3 goals and 1 assist, adding 4 ground balls and 4 caused turnovers in a strong two-way performance.
  • Additional goal scorers included Jillian Blair (2), Natalia Ortiz (1), Adrina Cantarelli (1), Carmella Garcia (1), and Kate Holley (1).
  • Marymount dominated possession with a 20-4 edge in draw controls and forced 18 turnovers defensively.
  • Ava Vautour earned the win in goal, making 2 saves while allowing just 2 goals.

UP NEXT
Marymount returns to action on Sunday, April 19th, looking to carry momentum into senior day as conference play continues. They will play Marywood with the opening draw at 12 PM.
