Reik notches 600th save, Davis sets career highs as Saints beat Warriors, 16-12

ARLINGTON, Va. – Following a three-game road trip, the Marymount University women's lacrosse team returned home to Long Bridge Park on Sunday afternoon, defeating Lycoming College, 16-12.

Freshman Emily Peters opened the scoring off an assist from junior Madison Davis to give the Saints a 1-0 lead.

After Lycoming responded to take a 2-1 lead, a three-goal run for the Saints earned them the lead for good in the game.

Senior Jessica Crew started things with an unassisted tally at the 17:27 mark, before junior Eliana Cassel converted a free-position chance just over a minute later.

Crew than scored on a man-up opportunity, taking a feed from senior Bridgette Stacom.

Crew totaled five goals in the first half, leading the Saints to an 8-6 lead at haltime. She led another 3-0 Saint run in the final 2:12 of the half, sandwiching a score by senior Kelly Campbell, with two more goals.

In the first half, senior goalkeeper Holly Reik recorded her first save just 10 seconds into the game, marking the 600th of her career.

At halftime, Marymount led in shots, 18-15, while converting all eight clearing opportunities and forcing nine Warrior turnovers.

Cassel scored another free-position goal to get the Saints going in the second half. Following a Lycoming goal to get the score to 9-7, Marymount went on a five-goal run to pull away.

Freshman Taylor Young and Davis converted free-position chances, before Crew tallied her sixth.

Davis added another score, taking an assist from Campbell. Davis would then assist sophomore Josephine Bennett on her first goal of the year to give the Saints a 14-7 edge.

Crew and Davis capped the scoring for the Saints on the day, as they maintained control for the win.

Crew finished with a team-high seven goals, while Davis added a career-high five points on a career-best three goals and two assists.

Reik finished the game with nine saves, playing over 52 minutes in goal for her fifth win of the year.

Marymount will travel to Arcadia University for its next game on Wednesday, March 20; the opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
