ARLINGTON, Va. - The undefeated Penn State University-Harrisburg Lions took the pitch against the Marymount University men's soccer team on Saturday afternoon at Long Bridge Park, seeing the Lions move their win streak to 10 matches with a 2-0 decision.

It was a very even match in the first half, as the Saints had most of the possession after the first touch. Both sides had their share of first half opportunities, but the Lions were the only ones to capitalize, heading into the break with a 1-0 lead. 

Despite the first half result, the Saints looked strong as they held the Lions to only six shots. Junior defender Rodney Ngoh was a force to be reckoned with in the first half, clearing six Lion opportunities with his head and making some highlight-reel tackles to help keep the first half deficit to just one. 

In the eighth minute of play, Jacob Krantweiss for the Lions committed the game's first foul, giving freshman Masaru Furushio a free-kick opportunity. The shot was just low hitting the Lions' defensive wall. 

Late in the first half, Louis Velasco of the Lions had a one-on-one battle with his defender on the left endline. Beating his mark and another defender, Velasco had a clear opportunity with sophomore net minder Jonathan Josue Cruz. Velasco finished his chance, scoring the first goal of the game into the bottom right side of the net.

The late momentum and aggression of the first half carried with the Lions through the halftime break into the second half. Early aggression on the Saints' defense resulted in a foul on freshman Ibrahim Alamoudi, which gave Ethan Hoover for the Lions a 27-yard free kick. Hoover found the back of the net off a curling attempt that bent its way over the gloves of Cruz and into the top right shelf for the 2-0 lead. 

Sophmore Ridwaan Robinson had a one-time opportunity in the 80th minute that could have cut the deficit to just one. His one timer from just outside the 18 beemed off the left post. The Saints pressed the Lions' defense in the last 10 minutes of play, creating numerous opportunities for themselves. 

Cruz made his second start of the season, and freshman Ronald Clark came into the match midway through the second half. Both goal keepers combined for three saves. 

The Saints are back in action on Friday, September 28 as they host No. 23 Hope College. First touch is set for 5 p.m., at Long Bridge Park.
