ARLINGTON, Va. - The Marymount University women's soccer team fell on Wednesday evening to Greensboro College, 3-1, at Long Bridge Park.

Both teams had their fair share of opportunities at goal in the first half. Sydney Moss of the Pride had a keen opportunity in the 31st minute. Moss received the ball, drew it back and ripped a shot that left the cross-bar rattling. Alexis Chase ran into the box and got her head onto the rebound, only to be denied by senior goalkeeper Sydney Sherman. 

A late goal in the 40th minute put the Pride ahead; they would hold the 1-0 lead at the half. 

At the start of the second half, the Saints had a very promising opportunity. After a foul on the Pride, freshman Mia Londregan lined up a free kick from about 30 yards out, ripping a shot that just missed the crossbar. 

The second-half battle between the Saints and the Pride was even as the Saints outshot the Pride seven to six.

The last 10 minutes of play was exciting for both teams. The Pride found the back of the net twice. Both goals came from very similar plays, as Mercedes Bauza sent through balls past the Saints defense to Alexis Chase who found two one-on-one opportunities that went in her favor.

With seconds winding down, the Saints had a lot of fight left in them. Junior Gabby Cabrales put the moves on the Pride defender to get open for a through ball to freshman Carolyn Treuting. Treuting put the ball past the Prides goalkeeper to notch her first career goal.

Between Sherman and freshman Madison Foltz, the Saints goalkeepers made five saves.

The Saints hit the pitch next against University of Mary Washington on Friday, September 21. First touch is set for 7:00 p.m. at Long Bridge Park.
