WSOC: Saints Set For Second NCAA Tournament Appearance

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Saints are heading back to the national stage for the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship Tournament, as announced Monday by the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Committee.

The Saints (11-8-2) are set to make their second NCAA Tournament appearance, facing Washington & Lee University (16-2-2) in the first round on Saturday, November 15, at 11:00 AM in Lexington, Va.

Marymount earned the Atlantic East Conference's automatic bid after a commanding 4-0 victory over Gwynedd Mercy in the AEC Championship. 

SCOUTING THE REGION

  • Marymount enters the tournament on a four-match unbeaten streak, capped by four consecutive shutouts to secure their second AEC title.
  • Washington & Lee (16-2-2) is making its ninth NCAA appearance and fourth straight trip to the tournament. The Generals advanced to the Sweet Sixteen in 2024.
  • The Saints and Generals will compete in the regional alongside Carnegie Mellon (9-4-5) and Scranton (15-2-3).
  • The winner of Marymount vs. Washington & Lee will face the Carnegie Mellon/Scranton winner on Sunday, November 16, at 6:00 PM.

SCOUTING THE SAINTS

  • The Saints have posted 11 wins and 10 shutouts, allowing just 20 goals across 21 matches this season.
  • First-year forward Arianna Blanco, the Atlantic East Rookie of the Year, leads Marymount's attack with 11 goals and 5 assists (27 points), including four game-winning goals.
  • Sophomore Nicole Alvarado has been a creative force in the midfield, adding 8 goals and 6 assists (22 points)with a .583 shot-on-goal rate.
  • Arianna Garcia has tallied 6 goals and 2 assists, while Leila Lajdel, a three-time All-Conference defender, continues to anchor the back line.
  • The Saints' defensive unit, led by senior Isabelle Davis, has been one of the strongest in the AEC, helping Marymount to four straight clean sheets to close out the postseason.
  • In goal, Mara Dufour and Sarah Robinson have combined for an .820 save percentage and 10 shutouts, conceding less than one goal per match (0.96 GAA).

ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIP

  • The 64-team NCAA Tournament features programs representing 42 conferences.
  • 22 teams earned at-large bids, while 42 automatic qualifiers secured their spots through conference titles.
  • The national semifinals and finals will be held at Kerr Stadium in Salem, Va., hosted by Roanoke College, on December 4 and December 6 respectively.
