ARLINGTON, Va. — Marymount women's soccer is championship bound once again, advancing to its third straight Atlantic East Conference Championship after a commanding 4–0 victory over Neumann University on Tuesday night at Long Bridge Park. The Saints exploded for four second-half goals to secure their spot in the title game, extending their shutout streak to five straight matches.
NOTABLE
- Nicole Alvarado, Daniela Carrillo-Torres, Arianna Blanco, and Hannah Driscoll each tallied goals in the victory.
- Blanco assisted Alvarado's opener before adding one of her own in the 85th minute.
- Lexa Swekosky registered an assist on Carrillo-Torres' goal in the 61st minute.
- Sarah Robinson and Mara Dufour combined for Marymount's fifth consecutive shutout, making two saves apiece.
- The Saints controlled the match with 19 total shots (11 on goal) and seven corner kicks.
- With the win, Marymount improved to 10–8–2 overall and earned a spot in the Atlantic East Championship for the third consecutive season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a balanced opening half, the Saints took over in the second period. Nicole Alvarado broke the deadlock in the 47th minute, finishing a cross from Arianna Blanco to put Marymount on the board. Just 14 minutes later, Daniela Carrillo-Torres doubled the lead off an assist from Lexa Swekosky, giving the Saints a cushion.
- Marymount continued to press offensively, with Arianna Blanco adding a third in the 85th minute and Hannah Driscoll converting a penalty less than a minute later to seal the win. The Saints' defense remained composed and unbreakable, securing another clean sheet to continue their impressive defensive streak.
