Box Score

UNION, N.J. - Marymount men's volleyball senior TJ Wiechecki and junior Eric Wiles combined for 23 of the team's 36 kills while hitting .714 as the 11th-ranked Saints pulled away from Medaille for a 25-22, 25-15, 25-9 victory Friday night at Kean University's Harwood Arena.

Marymount (6-2) has now won three-straight while improving its record in home and neutral site matches to 5-0.

Wiles totaled a season-high 12 kills, three shy of his career high set at Thiel on Feb. 17, 2017. Wiechecki had 11 kills and added a match-high six digs.

Sophomore Sam Safley had eight kills and two block assists while senior Erich Bratke totaled 25 assists.

The first set was back and forth, featuring 16 ties and eight lead changes. The Saints led by as many as four, but an 8-3 run gave the Mavericks a 13-12 advantage. From there, neither team could manage a lead larger than one point before it was tied for the final time at 21. Two Medaille errors and kills by Safley and Wiechecki gave Marymount a three-point win.

The second set started off the same way as the first with nine ties, the last of which came at 10. However, the Saints finished the set by scoring 15 of the final 20 points to take a two-set lead. Wiles totaled five of his 12 kills in the set while Safley and Wiechecki added three each.

The third and decisive set was dominated by Marymount as the team totaled 11 kills and a .714 hitting percentage while Medaille (0-1) had just four kills while committing eight errors for a minus-.250 hitting percentage. The Saints jumped out to a 13-5 lead and sealed their fifth, straight set victory of the season by finishing the set with a 12-4 spurt. Marymount had four service aces, including two by senior Carson Caudell.

On Saturday, the Saints take on Lasell at 12:30 p.m., before facing No. 2 Stevens at 3 p.m.
