BOYDS, Md. – The Marymount (Va.) University men's lacrosse team had to travel up to a neutral location on Thursday afternoon for its non-conference showdown against Shenandoah University, falling 10-7 at the Maryland SoccerPlex.

The Hornets found the back of net first, but it didn't take the Saints too long to answer as sophomore defender Hunter McGeeney answered on a defensive stop and a transition for an unassisted goal to draw things even at 1-1 at the 9:14 mark of the first quarter.

Shenandoah followed with four finishes to take a four-goal advantage into the second quarter. In the second 15-minute stretch, junior Dylan Watkins sent home two goals to cut the Saints to three goals at the half, 6-3. 

On the restart, Marymount came out firing, sending in three-straight goals from junior Brent Sulhoff with two and sophomore Dylan Handel who caught a dish from Sulhoff to draw things even at 6-6.  Unfortunately, the Hornets followed with three finishes of their own to take a 9-6 lead that they would hold for the remainder of the game.

In the fourth, Shenandoah found the back of the net at the 5:45 mark while junior John Williamson capped off the scoring for Marymount with a goal less than a minute later off a dish by junior captain Nathan Beard. 

The men will look to bounce back when they return to Capital Athletic Conference play on Saturday, March 18 at Christopher Newport University. First faceoff is set for 1 p.m.
