Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. - Marymount women's volleyball freshmen Mykael Johnson and Alexa Marcum combined for 31 of the team's 49 kills, but after winning the first set, the Saints totaled 24 attack errors and hit just .066 as they dropped a key CAC contest to Salisbury at home Tuesday, 25-22, 25-27, 14-25, 21-25.
The loss snapped a four match home winning streak for Marymount (11-11, 3-3 CAC) who fell back to .500 on the season and into seventh in the conference standings. The top eight teams advance to the 2017 CAC Volleyball Championship.
Johnson had a career-high 17 kills and hit .387 while Marcum had 14 kills, two shy of her career high, and hit .217 while totaling a career-high 46 attempts. The duo hit .286 and had 77 attempts.
Over her last five matches, Johnson has totaled 50 kills while posting a .222 hitting percentage. Meanwhile, Marcum had at least 10 kills for the fourth time this season and at least 40 attempts for the third time.
Sophomore Theresa Buscemi totaled a career-high 32 digs, surpassing 30 for the first time. As a team, the Saints had a season-high 81 digs, equaling the mark they set in a five-set win at Virginia Wesleyan on September 2. Freshman Jasmine Roy added 13 digs while junior Celine Nguyen had 10.
The Sea Gulls (15-7, 4-2 CAC) had 24 blocks which largely contributed to Marymount's 33 attack errors. Junior Caroline Hanson had six kills, 21 assists and five digs, but totaled a career-high 12 attack errors. In addition, junior Emily Abramaitys had just two kills and two errors while freshman Myah Cordrey had five kills and five errors as the Saints top three leaders in kills this season were held to only 13 kills while totaling 19 errors.
Senior Christy Tieman finished with 22 assists and eight digs.
Marymount must rebound quickly as it travels to York (Pa.) for a CAC contest Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
