ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount men's soccer team fell behind to Salisbury University on Wednesday afternoon at Long Bridge Park, eventually falling to a 4-1 final in the Capital Athletic Conference tilt. 

It was a close battle to start, seeing the first shot go on target in the 17th minute off the foot of freshman Levis Lopez, but Salisbury keeper Trevor Brookhart kept the scoreboard clean. 

On the other end, sophomore keeper John Valcicak did the same, making his first save off a header attempt by Salisbury's Brooks Zentgraf. 

The shots continued to go back and forth until the 30th minute until a foul called the play dead inside the 18-yard box in favor of the Sea Gulls. Salisbury's Nick Carrington stepped up for the penalty kick, sending his shot into the lower right corner for the 1-0 advantage. 

Before the break, the Sea Gulls added one more to take a 2-0 lead into the half. 

For much of the second half, the action came on Salisbury's offensive end, adding two more goals to get push ahead, 4-0. 

Marymount gained some life in the 74th minute with a penalty kick of its own, as junior Chris Cardenas put away his first goal of the season into the top right pocket.  But the comeback attempt wasn't enough with the score holding at 4-1 the rest of the way. 

The men will look to bounce back on Saturday, October 14, hosting Frostburg State University for Senior Day. Prior to the match, the Saints will honor the career of senior Nick Hars. First touch is set for 7:30 p.m.
