ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount (VA.) University women's soccer team wrapped up the Marymount Invitational on Saturday evening, using a strong second half to earn its first victory of the season against Emory & Henry College, 2-0. 

The first half remained scoreless, however the Saints came out with an aggressive mentality on offense and outshot the Wasps, 10-2. The offense was spread out well with seniors Chloe McAuliffe and Joanna Chenaille and freshman Karen Reyes taking two shots a piece. The stellar defense played by the Saints limited the Wasps to two shots, leaving senior April Westmark to make one save in the first half.

The second half started with the same aggressive style on offense with the Saints continuing to create good looks on goal. This style of play led to the Saints firing off eight shots on goal in the half. At the 60-minute mark, Reyes was able to connect with fellow freshman Kylie Egan in the middle of the box, who put it past the keeper for her first collegiate goal to break the tie.

Marymount would add an insurance goal with 20 minutes left in regulation when freshman Jennifer McKee found Reyes who used her speed to blow by the defense and put the ball in the back of the net for her first collegiate goal. 

The women will be at home at Long Bridge Park again on Wednesday, September 7. The squad will play Washington Adventist with first touch scheduled for 7 p.m.
