Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. — The Marymount (Va.) University women's lacrosse team notched its third-straight victory on Monday night at Long Bridge Park, putting together a blistering 16-2 decision over Medaille College in a non-conference matchup.
Senior Stephanie Keane and sophomore Abby Wescott, both captains for the Saints, paced the offense with career days on the turf. Keane tied her career mark in goals that she set back in her freshman season against Birmingham-Southern with four goals, while adding an assist for a five-point night. Wescott crushed her career mark in assists with six for the game, adding a goal for a game-high seven points.
Plenty of other Saints found the back of the net through the 60 minutes, seeing freshman Jessica Crew also mark a career day with three goals and two assists for five points. Freshmen Kelly Campbell (3), Bridgette Stacom (2), Bridget Odom (2), and senior Michelle Casteel (1) capped off the rest of the scoring, combining for eight goals.
Winning the opening draw of the contest, the Saints (3-2) had no issue proving to be the better team right off the start, as Crew coasted through the defense to put the first shot in the back of the net in just the opening 13 seconds. The scoring kept rolling for the blue and white, hitting the running clock with a 10-0 lead less than eight minutes into the game. Stacom capped off an 11-0 half with a hook up with Crew with 4:57 remaining until the break.
Marymount added two more to start the second half, as Wescott dished out assists to Campbell and Keane to push a 13-0 lead.
The Mavericks finally got onto the scoreboard by the 22:35 mark on a free-position shot, but the Saints followed with three more finishes to put the game away. Medaille found the back of the net one more time before the end of the game, as MU took a 16-2 decision.
Campbell also posted a career day on the defensive end of the ball, causing a game-high four turnovers, while Crew and sophomore Liah Agouras added two apiece. Agouras also scooped up a game-high five groundballs.
Marymount held the edge in draw controls for the contest, 11-9, seeing junior Natalie Tinkham pull in a game-high four.
Freshman Holly Reik earned her third-straight win in the net, making five saves in her 60 minutes in net.
The Saints are back in action on Saturday, March 12, opening up Capital Athletic Conference play at home against Frostburg State University. First draw is set for 1 p.m., at Long Bridge Park.
