Women's Lacrosse Readies for Historic NCAA Appearance

ARLINGTON, Va. – Marymount women's lacrosse heads up to York, Pa. on Friday to begin prep for their first-ever appearance in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
 
Play begins Saturday as the Saints look to continue their historic season.

FIRST ROUND
  • The Saints will face off against Plymouth State in the First Round on Saturday, May 10 with first draw set for 12:00 PM.
  • York (Pa.) grabbed the First-Round bye and hosting responsibilities. They will play the winner of tomorrow's game on Sunday, May. 11 at 1:00 PM
SCOUTING THE REGION
  • This will be the first match up with Plymouth State in Marymount women's lacrosse history.
  • The Panthers are coming off a 15-3 regular season record, going a perfect 8-0 in conference play.
  • They fell in the Little East Conference Championship to Western Connecticut State.
  • Marymount regularly played York (Pa.) during their time in the Capital Athletic Conference.
SCOUTING THE SAINTS
  • Marymount is coming off a historic year, securing their first-ever conference championship after a perfect 5-0 record in Atlantic East Play, another first for the Saints.
  • The Saints outscored opponents 344-116 on the season.
  • Abby Dunn was selected as the Atlantic East Defensive Player of the Year, also earning First Team All-Conference honors.
  • Eight total Saints earned All-Conference including Dunn: Tess Valentino, Hannah Smith, Peyton Samson, Bailey Gehler, Ella Baker, Riley Love, and Taylor Chepren.
  • Valentino posted a team-high 67 goals throughout the season, adding six assists for 73 total points.
  • Love led the Saints in points, notching 88 with 21 goals and 67 assists. Love broke the single season assists record.
  • Hannah Smith started all 19 games for the Saints thus far this season, sporting a 17-2 overall record. She holds 144 saves so far this season with a dismal 6.08 goals allowed average.
  • Dunn led the Saints with 52 caused turnovers and 60 ground balls throughout the year.
  • Arayla Garcia led the Saints on the draw with 117 on the season.
  • First-year Carmella Garcia was named the AEC Tournament MVP.
ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIP
  • Both games this weekend will be played at Kinsley Field, York's home turf.
  • The 2025 DIII women's lacrosse championship is a 47-team, single-elimination tournament. Fourteen first-round games will be conducted at 14 campus sites.
  • Sixteen second-round games will be conducted at 16 campus sites. Regional games will be conducted at four regional sites to determine the teams that will advance to the semifinals.
  • The 2025 DIII women's lacrosse championship finals will take place May 23-25 at Kerr Stadium in Salem, Va.
