Box Score BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Marymount (Va.) University women's soccer team fell behind early on Wednesday night in a Capital Athletic Conference matchup at Southern Virginia University, dropping a 2-0 decision to move to 7-7 overall, 2-5 in league play.
The Saints were first to show off some offense in the match, seeing freshman Courtney Stephens fire off two shots four-minutes apart. The first went just wide left, while the second was on target, unfortunately pulled in by Knight goalkeeper Megan Turner.
SVU's first attempt although made it into the back of the net following a defensive deflection, giving the Knights a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute. By the 23rd minute, they'd tack on another off a throw-in to push the advantage to 2-0, which would hold for the rest of the match.
Marymount managed to get off two more shots in the match, off the feet of senior Chloe McAuliffe and freshman Makayla Dulac, but nothing would cross the goal line.
Junior Sydney Schultz played the full 90 minutes in the net for the Saints, registering seven saves.
The women will remain on the road for their next match, traveling to Frostburg State University on Saturday, October 22 for another league matchup. First touch is set for 5 p.m.
