Box Score Arlington, Va. – Despite a painstakingly close third set, the Marymount men's volleyball squad downed Eastern Mennonite in straight frames (25-15, 25-15, 29-27) on Tuesday night. The Saints improve to 14-18 overall and 5-6 in CVC play with the swift victory.
Marymount vastly outhit the visiting Royals across the board, posting a .316 performance on the night. Three Saints smacked double-digit kills in the effort, with Albert Johannson leading the attack with 13 – good for both a match-high and a career-best for the rookie. The Vasterljung, Sweden, native hit a sterling .346 when all was said and done.
TJ Wiechecki turned in yet another solid outing with 12 kills, while Tomasz Ksiazkiewicz rounded out the group with 11 on just 13 swings to notch a sizzling .846 hitting percentage. The sophomore also proved a dynamic force at the net, posting three block assists.
Erich Bratke had quite the busy night, registering 39 assists, six digs, two solo blocks, and two block assists over the three-set tilt. Jordan Pawlicki led all players with eight digs, while Graham Clarke also chipped in two block assists.
Marymount returns to action on Saturday when it hosts CVC foe Rutgers-Newark. Match time is slated for 2 p.m.
