Box Score 4 Cincinnati, Ohio – The Marymount men's volleyball team dropped its opening three matches this weekend before swiping the get-away game on Sunday at the Mount St. Joseph Tournament. The Milwaukee School of Engineering swept the Saints (21-25, 22-25, 17-25) before Mount St. Joseph did the same (17-25, 16-25, 13-25) in Saturday's nightcap. On Sunday, Marymount dropped a 3-1 decision to Lakeland in its opener (25-23, 29-31, 17-25, 20-25) before downing Medaille 3-1 in the finale (25-20, 25-21, 19-25, 26-24).
Rookie TJ Wiechecki continued his hot streak from the opening weekend, smacking 40 kills between the four matches. Sophomore Tomasz Ksiazkiewicz and freshmen Graham Clark and Albert Johansson registered 26, 25, and 24 kills, respectively, to supplement the offense.
First-year Saints Erich Bratke and Jordan Pawlicki proved the architects for the weekend attack, posting 67 and 44 assists, respectively, over the four-game bout. The pair also settled in as key defensive cogs for Marymount, with Pawlicki collecting 27 digs and Bratke chipping in 22.
Ksiazkiewicz led the Saints with four aces on the weekend and an impressive 13 blocks in his tournament performance. Clark kept pace at the net as well with ten blocks.
Marymount returns to action on Saturday, February 7, when it opens CVC play at Rutgers-Newark. Match time is slated for 7 p.m.
